Students go on to study a wide range of subjects including Management and Business Studies (including MBAs), Development Studies, Social Anthropology, Development Policy and Planning, International Relations, Politics, Economics, Economic History, Geography, English Literature, Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), History of Art, Religious Studies, Psychology, Media Studies, Information Systems Management, Communications Studies, Architecture, Archaeology, Linguistics, and the many regional or Area Studies programmes which are a speciality of SOAS. The full 2013 destinations list is on the programme webpage and gives you an idea of the subjects students go on to study and the universities they enter.
The FDPS course meets the needs of two different groups of international students:
• students who have a first degree in a particular subject (e.g. Language/Literature) but who wish to change their major and prepare for graduate study in a new field (e.g. Social Anthropology or Business Studies) while also improving their English language, academic study skills and
independent research skills
• students who have a first degree in a particular subject (e.g. Anthropology) and who wish to pursue further studies or research in the same or a related field (e.g., Social Anthropology or Development) but need a more solid foundation in English language, academic study skills and independent research skills
