Business English Certificates are widely-recognised qualifications helping candidates into employment in business and commerce, or improving their professional status. The qualifications are designed to give you practical skills to help you succeed in English-speaking international business environments.

There are three different exams, Preliminary, Vantage and Higher, at CEFR levels B1, B2 and C1 respectively. They require no previous knowledge of business, but will test your business-related language. Because the examinations are based on authentic texts and realistic tasks, success in them will be an important asset for anyone who wants to work in international business, as it willl indicate sufficient proficiency in English to be of practical use in clerical, secretarial and managerial jobs in many industries.

The qualification recognises the ability to communicate with confidence in business English. Successful candidates will have the ability to deal with anything from routine letters and telephone enquiries to using the language in practical situations, such as in meetings and discussions, expressing opinions clearly, and be able to understand and produce texts of various types, including business letters and reports. They will also be aware of the different styles of English appropriate to those different situations.
