Lancing College, founded in 1848, proudly stands high on a hill with stunning views overlooking the coastal resort of Brighton. The famous Gothic chapel, which creates a magical and mysterious aura, is of national importance and sits at the forefront of the campus which extends across 550 acres of beautiful countryside. The campus, built around 2 quadrangles in a similar style to the Oxford and Cambridge university colleges, boasts some excellent facilities.
Up to 230 students per week from many different countries.
Bedrooms are mostly singles and doubles and have a bed and wardrobe and sometimes a study desk. Bathrooms are shared. Some boarding houses have their own communal spaces for students to relax.
There is a full programme including lessons and a wide range of sports, art, drama, clubs and Academic, Creative and Sports Academy options to choose from. There is evening social entertainment and 2 excursions per week.
There are 22.5 hours of lessons per week including General English Skills, Language Activities and Project Lessons. Students aged between 13-17 can enrol on a 2 or 3 week FCE examination course or 3 week CAE examination course.
Sports facilities include tennis courts, sports hall, swimming pool, squash courts, playing fields, drama theatre and dance studio.
Computer suite for access to internet (filtered) and email. The Grubber (Lancing College shop) and the Bede's tuck shop for drinks and snacks. Student common room with sofas, music, board games, table tennis and TV. Laundry is done for students at least twice per week.
Bede's staff live in the same houses as the students and care for them 24 hours a day. The House Parent is responsible for all students in each boarding house. There is access to medical care if students are sick.
